Organic Mullein Leaf (Verbascum thapsus)
Botanical Name: Verbascum thapsus
Origin: Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia
Certification: Organic & Kosher
Processing: Non-ETO • Non-Irradiated • Wildcrafted
Our Organic Mullein Leaf is carefully wildcrafted from silvery-green, velvety leaves harvested at peak quality. Recognized for its soft, flannel-like texture, mullein is a distinctive biennial herb that grows in a low rosette during its first year, sending up a tall flowering stalk crowned with bright yellow blossoms in its second year.
A member of the Scrophulariaceae family, mullein is native to Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia, and is now widely naturalized throughout North America. It thrives in compacted, disturbed soils, where its deep taproot helps break up the earth and improve soil conditions for future plant growth.
Finely cut and sifted for ease of use, this mullein leaf retains its natural green hues and mild, earthy aroma. When brewed, it produces a smooth, pleasant infusion with subtle herbal notes.
Traditional Uses*
- Traditionally used to support respiratory comfort and overall lung function
- Commonly brewed as an herbal infusion
How to Use
Infusion: Steep 1 ounce by weight of dried mullein in a quart-sized mason jar. Pour boiling water over the herbs, stir, and cover. Let steep for 4 to 6 hours or overnight. Strain through a fine cloth and refrigerate. For more detailed instructions and additional information, see my free infusion guide.
Precautions
The fine hairs on mullein leaf may cause mechanical irritation if not thoroughly strained from teas or infusions prior to consumption.
Please note: Product appearance, including color and cut size, may vary from lot to lot due to natural growing conditions.
